The usual failure: every character sounds like the same person muttering.
The rule
Start each line with a character tag:
Chapter 1 — First Snow [Narrator] That night, the first snow fell. [Sam] Mom, it is snowing outside!
Writing rules
- One speaker per paragraph
- Keep narrator and dialogue tags separate
- Keep names stable (Sam, not Sam/Sammy/Son)
Casting simply
- Narrator: steady
- Lead: recognizable to your audience
- Sidekicks: contrast (brighter / lower / older)
Contrast matters more than perfection. If everyone sounds similar, listeners get lost.
Generation order
- Narrator chapter first
- Then character lines
- Listen to joins between speakers
- Re-generate only the bumpy takes

Can I use cloned voices?
